updates

Updates from me....

I completed two 9x9 inch layouts for Miasmummy (Ali) for her little girl Lexi Rose.

Get on board this. I plan on making a few layouts this weekend....I totally want to help families out there build their memories and family stories again. Many have lost everything, and I know that something as small as this gesture can help bring smiles to those families faces in the wake of these horific bushfires that have swept though Victoria. Sarah Gladman has a call out to us scrappers to create some 12x12 album pages to help out these families. Check out her blog for further details. For an example of a finished page Chris Millar has posted one up on her site. She also has listed some places you can give donations too.

In other Bushfire Appeal fundraising news, Kaisercraft are holding a scrapbooking ‘crop’ night at their Factory Outlet on Latrobe Blvd, in Geelong to raise money for the Red Cross Victorian bushfire appeal and are looking for local crafters to support this cause.

The crop will be held on Friday 27 February 2009 at the Kaisercraft Factory Outlet in Geelong, 506-508 Latrobe Blvd Newtown, Geelong, Victoria. The event will run from 6pm – 10pm. Cost is AUD$10 per person.

Bring along a friend and your craft gear and visit Kaisercraft’s Factory Outlet for a fun night of crafting and scrapping! Don’t forget, ALL proceeds raised from the evening will go towards the Red Cross Victorian Bushfires appeal.

Kaisercraft’s contributing Design Team member, Jane Jones has kindly donated two albums, “I heart you” - a raffle prize, and “Celebrate you” - a cute cupcakes album that will be auctioned off during the evening.
Check out the cute albums and more information about the evening on Kaisercraft's blog.

The Kaisercraft Factory Outlet is having a FREE Make & Take with Melissa Kennedy and Alison Hannah on Saturday the 21st of February from 1:00pm until 5:00pm. Everyone will be able to make one of the featured mini books as shown below:

I scrapped a layout on the weekend, one of when I got to meet my little nephew Mason for the first time! :)

I went to the cricket on the Friday night (6th Feb) to see the evening session of Aust V New Zealand.... Brad and I had a ball, watching teh cricket (and the crowd!!)

Last weekend was SUPER relaxing, I scrapped (the above nephew layout), ran some errands - including getting 130 photos printed at Harvey Norman for 12cents! :)

Brad took me down to Barwon Heads bridge for Sushi and wine on the beach for dinner. We enjoyed a lovely desert (caramel & macadamia cheescake)at Apostle in Queenscliff - it's a beautiful church that has been made into a lovely restuarant/wedding reception venue! Oh and Brad got me a lovely card and tickets to see The Fray in March! :) I made him some yummy chocolate choc/mint chip biscuits and gave him a book, lollies and a handmade card!

thats it for now. catch you later cats!

Victorian Bushfire Appeal 2009

Picture from Herald Sun website.

I feel proud to be an aussie. To be among a nation of men, women and children, who have so far donated (from reports on the radio this morning) in excess of $77 million.

If you feel you can help, please do, just visit the Red Cross website. I know I did and made a contribution. I know that while I am struggling financially at the moment, my plight is no where near as serious as those who have lost their homes, their belongings or their loved ones...many have lost everything. My donation may not be much, but when I think of all those people who think that, every single dollar adds up to something.

This week has been tough, as fires have been close to my parents home in North East Victoria, and my Dad was on call to help out with the CFA - I've been thinking of them, hoping they're safe.

My thoughts are with those who have been affected by the bushfires.

Get Real baby!

So i popped by Lusi's (Ausitin) blog and found a huge reality check staring me in the face...

We cannot be perfect.

No one on the earth has everything. No one can cook, clean, keep their kids happy, have a full time job, or whatever all AT THE SAME TIME....it's simply not possible.

It's one of my hang ups, a long time hang up actually - one that I'm slowly beginning to put into action - to stress less, prioritise and not sweet the small stuff! Check out lusi's first Get Real post.

Really, I left my wet clothes in the washing machine for a day and a half, because I couldn't be bothered hanging them out.

Really, I haven't had my hair 'done' since mid Dec....coz I haven't been able to afford it!

Really, my housemate put his 'normal' rubbish in our 'recycle' bin - because the bin was too full - so instead of taking the rubbish out, I just piled it on top - it's not my turn, and I'm sick of picking up his mess!!

Really, I need to get my but into gear and stay MORE focused at work....

That's all I can think of right now... And this list will continue building...trust me! ;)

i'm back!

CHA..... Was amazing! I was a bit anxious heading over there, hoping everything I’d planned and my team had organised would come together. All was fine, flight over was amazing – thanks to the airbus (A380) being practically empty – and all eight of us getting 3 seats each to relax on!

America is big, it feels dirty and the buildings seem dated – well compared to Australia anyway! We arrived on the 21st Jan – and set up for the show on the 22nd and 23rd.... It was hard work, an amazing team effort. I learnt so much, I had to lead my team in setting up some of the stand, organisation and prioritisation and learnt a ton about the scrapbooking industry – CHA is mecca!
It was awesome to meet some retail store owners from the US, UK and Europe – and a few who made the trek from Australia also! I got to check out a few other stands along the way and got to meet, yes meet HEIDI SWAPP and saw Tim Holtz, Teresa Collins and Celine Nevarro too!

The rest of the LA/Anaheim/San Diego trip was so much fun! From having a spa practically every night, to eating HUGE American meals and ‘family restaurants’ and the plethora of fast food outlets! I feel like I’ve stacked on a few kilo’s (hence trying to get fit again and running!!) After the show the team visited Disneyland (Oh my gosh) it was SO much fun – the detail of the rides, the manicured gardens – everything was amazing! We also did A LOT of shopping – a pair of Guess jeans, Ralph Lauren sunnies, clothes, Disneyland touristy stuff, CD’s – you name it – I brought it! HAHA!! Us girls (Denise, Mel and I) had a car for three days, we visited Carlsbad, San Diego and checked out two scrap stores. We also went to the Crystal Cathederal, The Block shopping centre, Anaheim Garden Walk and ate yummy kahlua cocoa cheesecake @ The Cheesecake Factory!! We visited Hollywood Blvd, checked out the Hollywood sign, Rodeo Drive and Beverly Hills.

(All of this was done without a GPS – yep chicks rock – we rocked LA!! :)
Haha. I’m pretty much back to reality. Back to normal now anyways!! Trying to eat healthy, walk, and catching up with friends left-right and centre! Although I’m stuggling to find the time to scrap!

I'll leave you with some quick happy snaps!

Oh and in other news checkout Scrapbook Creations (nO.63) for my Lusi Austin's Top 10 Challenge - "Innocence lost" on page 148. Also a layout in the lastest Scrapbooking Memories magazine, Love gallery, "Love Cool" - so excited about these projects! :)

Oh and also, check out Kaisercraft's new blog - love it! Also... one of their new paper ranges coming out in the next few days!
