scrapping and birthdays :)

I promised I'd share some of my latest creations when I could didn't I? Well here you go!! :)

A "journal jar" I made for one each of my grandparents. I used Kaisercraft's Garden Arabesque patterned paper and a $2 journal from the Reject shop. Mel K from work bought in one a few weeks back she had me for her relative, and she also gave me a copy of the list of questions she printed to cut up, roll and put in her jar.

HOW IT WORKS?: You present the notebook and jar to a family member, and get them to grab a question out of the jar, paste it into the notebook and get them to answer it. Easy! I can’t wait to read my grandparents answers!

I thought this was a fantastic idea to create for each of my grandparents and give to them next time I'm at home! Email me @ ali_180586(at)hotmail(dot)com if you'd like a copy of the journal jar questions I used.

A couple of layouts I've made also. The first is a a photo I took last year of a street in West Brunswick (VIC), Brad and I were going out for coffee around 5.30pm and I noticed the amazing sunset behind us and snapped this with my LG phone! Instant love - I love the cool old car in this pic too.
Materials used: Basic grey pp, fontwerks stitcker, AC thickers, Kaisercraft alpha rubons, Hamby pp, Chatterbox lace pp and crystal brad, dymo labeller.

That's it for now folks....I spent yesterday afternoon sorting out photos which felt like a massive chore, organising ones to print, filing ones (with post-it note date/event) ready to scrap as well as putting ones into an album ready to scrap....but man it feels even better now - I'm ready to get stuck into some serious scrapping.

And now, (Mum if you're reading this), a birthday list.... ;) HAHA!

Australian Scrapbook & Papercraft Expo

Sorry....long time no blogging! Between Easter, a hectic work week and barely any scrapping - well worth sharing until its finished anyway...I've been flat out!

I thought I would share this though... I was lucky enough to be asked to teach a class in the Kaisercraft classroom at the Australian Scrapbook & Papercraft expo in Brisbane, June 6-8 this year! I was so excited that work asked me, and so lucky! I'm looking forward to heading up there with Melissa Kennedy, who is also teaching a class - I'm sure we'll have a blast!

This year Kaisercraft have it's on stand (70 - come and visit!), and our own classroom. I'll be sharing the classroom with Mel and Lu Benson.

In my class I'll be taking you on a love story of sorts. Using Kaisercraft's gorgeous Argentella range and coordinating embellishments you'll learn how to make a gorgeous love heart mini album to tell the story of you and your loved one. Go here to book your class - be quick they're selling out fast!

Mel's teaching a whimsical small clear acrylic album using Kaisercraft's Airy Fairy papers, as show below.

Lu is teaching a layout class using Kaiser's cute Sugar Sugar paper range:

Can I borrow some baking powder?

So i haven't been scrapping. I've been so busy since I last popped in here...between visiting the Otway Fly (a surprise day trip from my boyfriend), so baking gingerbread biscuits, working, playing indoor soccer, kicking goals, more work, painting, wrapping birthday presents for my boyfriend and a few other things - I've just been flat out!

Anyway so last Sunday (not today) I found a cute recipe for Gingerbread men...although I decided to make biscuits instead as I didn't have men shaped cutters.....

So I had been to the supermarket, got the neccessary ingredients....and started mixing it all together, following the recipe, until it called for 'baking powder'...and I didn't have any!

So I walked across the road to the neighbours - to borrow some baking powder. A little man came to the door, and his wife was out, he invited me in and we searched his pantry to find the baking powder. We did find it, I thanked the man and walked back to my house and continued baking.

Biscuits finished - and I wanted to really say thank you for borrowing the baking powder...So I made up a little thank you card (using Kaisecraft Sugar Sugar paper), punched a hole in the corner, and in the corner of a zip lock bag and presented the gift to the man later that evening. He couldn't believe it, he was obviously shocked, but pleased. I don't know even if him and his wife ate the biscuits or even liked them. But it made me feel wonderful - just a little gratitude for me neighbour for helping me out!

I got me thinking...meeting the neighbours, and getting the know them, it's something we just don't do enough anymore. Hardly neighbours' childeren play in the street and get to know each other, we all sit in our houses and mind our own business. Even though I am renting, I will endeavour to say hello, wave and keep on borrowing baking powder! ;) haha.....
