news of late...

So a few weeks ago I received a sweet package from a lovely friend... in it contained a dress my lovely boyfriend brought for me from Anthro and sweet Amy came to the rescue and had it shipped to her house.... She also sent me sweet prints and a cute note...

Those prints and that note are now pinned on my wall above my desk!

On that desk I have been doing a little bit of scrapbooking (although not near as much as I'd like to be doing....)

I'm also been thinking about getting a tatoo.... I really want a tree... It sounds weird, but as my last name is 'Wood' and my family have a HUGE elm tree in our backyard... it's sentimental... I just want a tree like this somewhere on my side (near my ribs I think.....

What do you think?

A little reflection....

I wanna rock-n-roll
I wanna give my soul
I'm wanting to belielve
I'm not too old
i don't wanna to make it up
Don't wanna to let you down
I wanna to fly away
But i'm stuck on the ground

So, help me decide
Help me to make up
Make up my mind
Wouldn't that save you
Wouldn't that save you
Wouldn't that save you

Matthew Perryman Jones, "Save you"

I've also found Leona Lewis's song 'Happy':
so what if it hurts me
so what if i break down
so what if this world just throws me off the edge
my feet run out of ground
i gotta find my place
i wanna hear my sound
dont care about other pain infront of me
cause im just tryna be happy
just wanna be happy

I've just been reading Kara Haupt's blog - she's 17 and a very very honest girl, remarkable for her age. Scary. But her last few blogs posts got me thinking.....

A lot of people don't share much on their blogs, some share too much and others...well don't even make a blip on the radar.

I'd like to think I share about a "medium-sized mango" amount of information on here. Not the HUGE mangos you get that are overfed with hormones, or the tiny ones they charge ridiculous amounts for... the nice sized ones that are tasty and juicy.

Anyway. Enough about mangos.

This song by Matthew Perryman Jones sounds amazing, and sweet and soulfull and made me think of many things that have been racing through my head lately.
Travelling
Committment
My Job
My passion
My art
My craft
My life
My people.

I want to surround myself in happiness. In love and life. But right now there are so many things I WANT, I just feel like I'm waiting for them.... waiting for everything. I don't have a plan right now, and that scares me, I know what I want, I just can't figure out when I can have it.

It scares me not knowing and I hate waiting.

I feel like I'm living in one of those time warp zones, where time freezes, you know?

I only see my boyfriend a couple of days a week (if I'm lucky) - I want to see him everyday.

I want to travel right now, but I can't afford it.

I wish I had a bunch of girlfriends to go shopping with, share chai lattes and treats with on weekends... Friends like Skye and Amy and Marnie, who I wished lived right next door and we could hang out all the time....

I miss some of my friends, friends I'd had for years, and now don't anymore. I know I shouldn't miss them for what happened, but I do. You delete phone numbers, email address and photos but you can't erase your memory. Heaps of other people share a desire for a close group of girlfriends - I know Im not the only one.

I want to be fit, I'm just to damn lazy and need exercise (at least 3 times a week) - so I joined the gym.... now I just have to get there!

Where is my career headed? What do I want in a proffessional PR career?

Where do I want to live?

I've just got to beleive and do what is right for me....

I've just got to figure that out....
thats all....

Double trouble!!

A lot of scrapbooking layouts these days are still only featuring single photo's and large headings with little journalling. I know I too do a lot of this, and have been doing TOO MUCH of it lately.

I find that while this scrapbooking is fun and a great creative outlet, I still need to capture memories that are already ready for me to scrap, printed and ready. Those that are more "event's" and traditional 'memory keeping' moments...

So I went through my album that already has photos ready to scrap and found these of my brothers Deb Ball. Those seen below....

A lot of us are daunted by scapping double page LOs and multi-photo layouts. And I was too - but it needs to be done (even if we don't like it). I'd just finished reading an article in the latest Scrapbooking Memories about double page layouts by Kathie Link. So I took a few hints on board and scrapped away!!

I took 8 6x4 photos, and got rid of one, played around with placement, cropped and trimmed them and picked my papers.

I especially loved Kathies use of repeated items across the spread (my buttons) and creating a visual triangle (the journal spot, and two clusters of blue flowers). These along with a simple heading spread over the two pages, boardered by maroon strips to bring out the maroon flowers in the photos, made me layout complete!!
VOILA!!

And a close up!!

Materials: Kaisercraft Loire Valley patterned paper, American Crafts foam thickers.
